He received a B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Middle East Technical University, in 1986, a M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in 1989, and a Ph. D. degree in Computer Engineering from the İstanbul Technical University, in 1995, and the Associate Professor degree in Computer Engineering Sciences, Software Engineering, in 1999. He got a scholarship from the Turkish Ministry of Education for graduate study in the USA between 1/1987 and 12/1989.

He worked as an instructor in the Department of Electronics Engineering at the Uludağ University, Bursa, between 3/1990 and 4/1997. He worked 5 years as Senior and Chief Researcher (in his last year) at the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey-National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptology (TÜBİTAK–UEKAE) between 5/1997 and 7/2002. During this period, he contributed to the development of the national IP Crypto Equipment Management Center (IPKC-YM) for IP Crypto Equipment (IPKC-E) and TAFICS (Turkish Armed Forces Integrated Communication System) Electronic Key Management System (TAFICS Elektronik Anahtar Yönetim Sistemi - TELAYS) projects. He also made some contributions to the representation of Turkey in the NATO INFOSEC Working Group. He was the Project Manager of the Network Management Group which was developing the IPKC-YM project in his about last 3 years at UEKAE. He worked in various institute project management process improvement teams. He also gave some undergraduate and graduate courses as a part-time instructor at the Marmara University, Computer Engineering Department for 3 years.

He worked as Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at the Fatih University, between 8/2002 and 8/2008. In 9/2008 he joined the Department of Computer Engineering at Haliç University. He served as head of department between March 2009 – September 2010 at this department. Then he joined the Department of Computer Engineering at Gediz University on September 2010, since this date he has been working as head of department.

He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on software engineering, computer networks, mobile and wireless networking, and programming. His current research interests include software engineering, mobile and wireless networking, software architectures and frameworks for communication and enterprise systems, distributed software systems.

He has academic publications and 3 popular books. His first two books, titled as "Mikroişlemciler ve Bilgisayarlar" and "Mikroişlemciler ve 8051 Ailesi" are about Intel microprocessors, IBM PC, 8051 microcontroller and applications. His last book is about Java network programming and titled as "Java Ağ Programcılığı".

He has worked as developer, system architect, project manager and consultant in many projects in private and government organizations since 1990.

ODTÜ Elektrik ve Elektronik Mühendisliğinden 1986’da lisans, ABD’de University of Wisconsin-Madison Elektrik ve Bilgisayar Mühendisliğinden 1989’da yüksek lisans, İTÜ Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümünden 1995’te doktora dereceleri almış ve 1999 yılında Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bilimleri, Yazılım Mühendisliği dalında Doçent olmuştur. 1/1987- 12/1989 yılları arası, yüksek lisans eğitimi için, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığından burslu olarak ABD’de bulundu.

3/1990-4/1997 yılları arasında Uludağ Üniversitesi Elektronik Mühendisliği bölümünde Öğretim Görevlisi olarak çalıştı. 5/1997-7/2002 yılları arasında TÜBİTAK-Ulusal Elektronik ve Kriptoloji Araştırma Enstitüsünde en son Başuzman Araştırmacı olarak çalışmıştır. Bu sürede IP Kripto Cihazları Yönetim Merkezi (IPKC-YM) ve TAFICS (Turkish Armed Forces Integrated Communication System) Elektronik Anahtar Yönetim Sistemi (TELAYS) projelerine katkılarda bulunmuştur. Türkiye'nin NATO INFOSEC Çalışma Grubunda temsiline de katkıları olmuştur. UEKAE'de yaklaşık son 3 yılında IPKC-YM projesini geliştiren Ağ Yönetimi Grubunda proje yöneticiliği yapmıştır. Çeşitli enstitü proje yönetimi süreç iyileştirme takımlarında çalışmıştır. Ayrıca Marmara Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümünde yarı zamanlı öğretim elemanı olarak 3 yıl lisans ve yüksek lisans dersleri vermiştir.

8/2002-8/2008 yılları arasında Fatih Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümünde Doçent olarak çalıştı. Eylül 2008 tarihinde Haliç Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümüne geçmiş ve bu bölümde Mart 2009 – Eylül 2010 tarihleri arasında Bölüm Başkanlığı görevini yerine getirmiştir. Daha sonra Eylül 2010 tarihinde Gediz Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümüne katılmış ve bu tarihten günümüze Bölüm Başkanlığı görevini yerine getirmektedir.

Yazılım mühendisliği, bilgisayar ağları, mobil ve kablosuz ağlar ve programlama üzerine lisans ve yüksek lisans dersleri vermektedir. Şimdiki araştırma alanları, yazılım mühendisliği, mobil ve kablosuz ağlar, haberleşme ve büyük ölçekli kurumsal (enterprise) yazılımlar için mimariler ve dağıtık yazılım sistemleridir.

Akademik yayınları ve 6 tane kitap çalışması bulunmaktadır. 3 kitabı güncel olup belli aralıklarla halen basılmaktadır. Bu çalışmaları, Intel mikroişlemcileri, IBM PC ve 8051 mikrodenetleyicisi üzerine, “Mikroişlemciler ve Bilgisayarlar, Intel Ailesi ve IBM PC” ve “Mikroişlemciler ve 8051 Ailesi, Donanım, Programlama ve Uygulamalar” kitapları ile ağ programcılığı üzerine “Java Ağ Programcılığı” kitabıdır. Özellikle ilk iki kitabı çok yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır.

1990 yılından günümüze özel ve kamu kurumlarında çok çeşitli projelerde, geliştirici, sistem mimarı, proje yöneticisi ve danışman olarak çalışmıştır.
